1967 Mini was brought to Florida from Texas in 2002, and showed signs of having lived in a very dry climate. The car was still in original paint and had its original 850cc engine. The only metal work and rust repair appears to be an area in the lower front floor pan which had been repaired sometime before. The car as it looks today is from the full cosmetic and mechanical restoration completed in 2003. The entire body and chassis were taken apart including the interior, weather-stripping, glass, doors, hardware, engine, transmission, and front and rear subframes. Everything was removed and restored at that time. It was commissioned by an older gentleman who used it primarily for cars shows where it was often trailered to and from and lived the rest of the time in a climate controlled garage. Exterior: The body was a bare metal restoration, paintwork is a single stage urethane wearing its original Island Blue color scheme. The imperial roof flag was painted in place of the original solid white in which the car originally had. The front grille is an early rare wavy grill and the lights are all correct original Lucas units. Original hardware, and one key fits all including ignition, doors, and trunk. Interior: For more comfort the inside has later generation Mini front seats recovered along with the rear in matching gray vinyl with blue piping. For safety the seat belts are upgraded 3-point retractable in contrasting red. The dashboard is an original period accessory Rokee unit that was refinished, and installed with a hidden CD/Radio unit and Infinity speakers. An early aftermarket wood steering wheel was also sourced and restored to match. For RPM's, mounted under the dash is a vintage Smith's tachometer Mechanical: The engine is a newer generation 1275cc and 4 speed synchro gearbox. Estimated mileage since installation are less than 3,000. Performance enhancements are twin SU carbs, header, center mounted Abarth style muffler, and a large capacity aluminum radiator. For stopping it has a disc brake conversion up front, and drums in the rear. The original hydrolastic suspension was removed and converted to a dry static set up with lowered ride height. The wheels are 10 alloy minilite inspired replica's. Electrical: Original 12V positive ground system.
